Aug 7 Friday
The celebration kicked off with proclamations from the Pennsylvania Legislature (Rep. Sandra Major) and the Susquehanna County Commissioners (Mary Ann Warren). The New Milford Historical Society Celebration Committee asked Donna Fekete, the queen of the earlier celebration 50 years ago, to open the "time capsule", which consisted of copies of the Blue Book, the history of New Milford. In the evening, The Buddy Spencer Orchestra played big band hits.Aug 8 Saturday
Highlights of the day included a visit from Ronald McDonald, entertainment from Patty Kenia, a New Milford Centennial "Idol" contest and an evening Polka Party with Bill Flynn - music provided by Stanky and the Coal Miners. The biggest crown seen in New Milford in years turned out for the afternoon parade down Main Street.Aug 9 Sunday
Festivities wound up on Sunday with a Sock Hop to the Oldies with Bill Grace at the Green Gables, coupled with a Classic Car show sponsored by the Endless Mountains Cruisers car club.
All in all, the weekend was a rousing success that left many people asking "what are we going to do next year?"
